Two years ago, BA Communication Arts majors,Kel Juan and Irvin from UPLB saw the emerging power of blogging as an effective tool for communication, expression, study and research. Since they started blogging, they have discovered the increasing number of BACommArts majors in the blogosphere and thus, Purebeef was established.

Purebeef stands for Purong BACA, a tweaked taglish translation of pure BA Communication Arts. It was first published as purebeef.tk, registered under the dot tk domain, while still running under blogspot’s hosting.

On its first few months, Purebeef consists of only Communication Arts Bloggers from UPLB. But since the moderators recognized the importance of links in cyberspace, they have entertained link exchange requests from outside parties provided that their sites do not promote pornography and violence.
